Hello, my name is Rose, and I spend far too much time on the internet.
I’m a freelance illustrator based in Albury, Australia. I am very passionate about information technology, medical science, biology, funny hats, insects, and stripy things. I prefer to paint digitally. I love how versatile it is, and I’ve been developing my skills in the digital art arena for seven years- much longer than I’ve been devoting time to any other medium. I use Photoshop CS4 for most of my paintings.
I completed my Certificate II in Multimedia in 2007 alongside my Higher School Certificate. I learned how to use the Adobe suite to its full potential and how to impliment the skills learned into graphic design. I also chose visual arts as one of my electives for my senior years in high school, which taught me a lot about the fundamental “laws” in art and how to discipline myself when it came to planning and completing large projects.
I tend to lean towards fantasy and macabre related art because it is what I grew up with. I am inspired deeply by the videogames I play, and it all started at a very young age with classics like Duke Nukem, Quake, Doom, etc. The real inspiration came from the Oddworld games, though; Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exoddus. Ever since I set eyes on them I knew it was the kind of art I wanted to produce myself.
